In 2002, Evan J. Strong Commemorative Services Funeral Directors began offering burial and cremation services to families in Calgary and the surrounding areas. Initially operating as Commemorative Services, the philosophy was quite simple - to provide a high level of service, but at a lower cost than the existing larger funeral homes.
In 2010, our operating name changed to Evan J. Strong Funeral Services to reflect the fact that our firm is a family owned funeral home. Our name may have changed, but our philosophy has remained as it was in the beginning.
When Evan J. Strong first opened the funeral home, his thought was to keep the facilities simple and the overhead costs low. This has enabled us to offer smaller funeral or memorial services in our chapel, while using existing facilities in our community for larger services. Many families who belong to local churches feel that the funeral or memorial service should be held in their church home, so the need for the expensive, elaborate funeral home is not necessary. For families who do not have a church home but need a larger facility for the service, we have arrangements and agreements with many halls, churches and other facilities to use as a venue for the service.
We offer a full range of services from simple, direct cremations and memorial services to complete traditional funeral services with casket burial.
